Bengals:
Joe Burrow, QB LSU
I have debated a ton about whether this pick will be dealt. Ultimately, I think it won’t given the circumstances and the fact that it’s hard to see anyone passing on Burrow.
Redskins:
Chase Young, DE OSU
Redskins are interesting here. They could trade down with a team in need of a QB or even take a QB themselves. I don’t think either happens. Chase Young is too tantalizing to pass up.
Dolphins (trade with Lions):
Justin Herbert, QB Oregon
Dolphins trade up for a QB. Not surprising. What is surprising is who they take. Justin Herbert, not Tua. Herbert just fits what Miami wants in a QB. He’s a safer choice than Tua as well.
Giants:
Isaiah Simmons, LB Clemson
OT could be a move here for the Giants, but it’s very hard to pass up on Simmons in this spot. They throw caution to the wind and do it.
Lions (trade with Dolphins):
Derrick Brown, DT Auburn
Defensive tackle might be a surprise here for the Lions. But after a DT went in the top 5 last year in Quinnen Williams, it’s possibility again. Most would expect Okudah here, but I don’t think Matt Patricia can pass up a chance to go get a line-moving defensive lineman like Brown. That’s just the kind of guy Matt Patricia is.
Chargers:
Tua Tagovailoa, QB Alabama
I do think there is something fishy with his medicals. There’s something there we don’t know. I debated dropping him a bit more for a more surprising result, but I can’t do that with confidence right now. He goes to the Chargers just outside the top 5.
Panthers:
Jeff Okudah, CB OSU
Best player available here to the Panthers. Nobody expected Okudah to slip by the Lions, but the Panthers won’t complain. They need secondary help.
Cardinals:
Andrew Thomas, OT Georgia
Cardinals are in need of offensive line help so Kyler Murray doesn’t have to play Houdini all the time. Thomas will be a big help to them. Murray will be thankful
Jaguars:
CJ Henderson, CB Florida
After losing Ramsey, they are looking for a new lockdown CB. Henderson is gaining a lot of traction as riser in this draft. An air-tight corner will be good for Jacksonville here.
Browns:
Mekhi Becton, OT Louisville
Browns add more on the offensive line to help keep Baker Mayfield upright. Not a surprise here.
Falcons (trade with Jets):
Javon Kinlaw, DT South Carolina
The Falcons move up to ensure they can get Kinlaw. They don’t want someone else getting a player they like. They are one of the more draft mover-uppers, if you will. Expect it again.
Eagles (trade with Raiders):
CeeDee Lamb, WR Oklahoma
Eagles are in desperate need for a playmaking receiver here. CeeDee Lamb is that guy. They make an aggressive move up to get him.
49ers:
Tristan Wirfs, OT Iowa
Everyone is expecting WR here, but they can’t pass up the chance to take a top tackle in this draft that fell due to circumstances. Wirfs fits what they need for when Staley retires in the near future.
Buccaneers:
Kristian Fulton, CB LSU
Buccaneers need a CB bad. They wanted Henderson but he’s gone. Kinlaw was their next choice, he’s gone. They go Fulton for corner help.
Broncos:
Jerry Jeudy, WR Alabama
Pairing Sutton and Jeudy seems like a great idea to me. Broncos don’t hesitate on this one.
Jets (trade with Falcons):
Jedrick Wills, OT Alabama
The Jets trade down and still get an OT they were looking to get.
Cowboys:
Henry Ruggs, WR Alabama
Cowboys need some CB help among other things, but WR help is another need they have more lowkey. They tried to get Emmanuel Sanders, to no avail. If Ruggs is on the board and no other great options at CB worth pick 17, which is the case here, I could see them going Ruggs to go with Cooper and Gallup. That’s a great trio.
Dolphins:
Austin Jackson, OT USC
Offensive line help here for Miami to protect their new QB. Smart move.
Raiders:
Denzel Mims, WR Baylor
Raiders are still able to land a good receiver despite missing out on the big three.
Jaguars:
Jordan Love, QB Utah State
The Jaguars aren’t going to sit there and go with Minshew as their guy. With Jordan Love is on the board, they take him here.
Raiders (trade with Eagles):
AJ Terrell, CB Clemson
Raiders got their WR. Now they get their CB. Good first round for them.
Vikings:
Justin Jefferson, WR LSU
Vikings are thrilled to see Jefferson fall in their laps here as they were sure he’d be gone by now. They take him without much hesitation.
Patriots:
AJ Epenesa, EDGE Iowa
The Pats missed out on Love. They just decide to go edge rusher here then. That’ll work for the defense.
Saints:
K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE LSU
Saints take a local kid to help give that defense more beef and bulk up front.
Vikings:
Kenneth Murray, LB Oklahoma
The Vikings spend their second 1st rounder on another big need at LB. Big round for them.
Dolphins:
D’Andre Swift, RB Georgia
Dolphins got a QB and an OT. RB is the next thing on the list. Swift has become the top one on the board. Dolphins scoop him up as their franchise-altering night continues.
Seahawks:
Joshua Jones, OT Houston
The Seahawks need offensive line help and they get it with a good one in Jones. More protection for Wilson who usually survives by running around and making things happen, not because he’s wanted to but because he’s had to. This should help.
Ravens:
Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE PSU
The Ravens don’t have many needs. Adding another pass-rusher makes that defense just as lethal as that offense.
Giants (trade with Titans):
Ezra Cleveland, OT Boise State
The Giants trade up from the early second to go get their offensive line help. They needed that to help Jones and Barkley. Cleveland has turned himself into a legitimate 1st round pick.
Packers:
Patrick Queen, LB LSU
The Packers are in desperate need of LB help. They can find one right here in Queen.
Colts (trade with 49ers):
Jalen Hurts, QB Oklahoma
First time you’ve seen this scenario? Let’s look at it. 5th-year options are super important in the NFL, especially for QBs. That’s why teams trade up for players they could probably get early in round 2. Round 2 doesn’t come with that 5th year. A couple of years ago, this similar situation came up with Lamar Jackson. Talented QB with questions about his pro potential. Ravens could have had him early round 2, but traded up to get him in round 1 with that 5th-year option attached. Nobody is complaining about Jackson now. Could similar happen here with Hurts, who is quietly rising up draft boards? I think so. 49ers can either take picks 34 and a 4th or picks 44 and 75. Their choice. Any way, picks in rounds 2-4 are coming their way, which they need.
Chiefs:
Cesar Ruiz, C Michigan
Chiefs need some interior offensive line help. They look towards the draft for it and get Ruiz who’ll help protect Mahomes.
