Buckner will help the 49ers pass rush immensely. They desperately needed that after their pass rush was towards the bottom of the league just a season ago. Buckner fits in very well with the 49ers defensive scheme, and I expect him to make an immediate impact. He's got all the skills a team wants at that position, and it appears that he's a player that can stay on the field.
The 49ers made a trade that nobody saw coming, as they acquired the 28th pick from the Chiefs in exchange for a 2nd rounder, a 4th rounder, and a 6th rounder. With this pick, they selected Stanford guard Joshua Garnett. Garnett was a surprise pick for almost all the analysts, but really none of teams in the draft. Joshua Garnett was a guard that many liked, including the Seahawks who traded down and might've thought they could've had him at 31. Instead, the 49ers nabbed him at 28.
The one thing that sticks out about Garnett is his work ethic and character. He consistently wants to improve and the 49ers loved his character. Garnett also sought after playing in San Fran, a sentiment most don't have these days. But coming from Stanford, it's not ridiculous that he wanted to play SF. Also, he was actually very good at Stanford. He will be a good offensive lineman for the 49ers, and he will probably start or at least have a great chance of competing for a starting job immediately.
These 49ers picks were great. I like them a lot. They were able to patch up some definite holes that needed addressed. Buckner and Garnett both fit in with what the 49ers are trying to do with the team. Both will be welcomed additions to the team.
