Bengals:
Joe Burrow, QB LSU
I have debated a ton about whether this pick will be dealt. Ultimately, I think it won’t given the circumstances and the fact that it’s hard to see anyone passing on Burrow.
Redskins:
Chase Young, DE OSU
Redskins are interesting here. They could trade down with a team in need of a QB or even take a QB themselves. I don’t think either happens. Chase Young is too tantalizing to pass up.
Dolphins (trade with Lions):
Tua Tagovaiola, QB Alabama
The Dolphins move up two spots do ensure they go get their guy, using some of their extra draft capital to sweeten the pot, stopping the Chargers from possibly moving up ahead of them to get Tua.
Giants:
Isaiah Simmons, LB Clemson
Giants pick up the best linebacker prospect we’ve seen in awhile. He’s a monster and will be a force in the NFL. Giants get a cornerstone player.
Lions (trade with Dolphins):
Jeff Okudah, CB OSU
Lions trade down two spots, get some extra draft capital in day 2 and still wind up with their guy in Okudah to replace Slay. Another piece for Matt Patricia’s defense.
Chargers:
Justin Herbert, QB Oregon
Again, no QB movement in the trade department in this draft yields the Chargers a franchise QB that fits what Anthony Lynn is looking for.
Panthers:
Tristan Wirfs, OT Iowa
The run on offensive tackles begins here as the Panthers add protection for Bridgewater. They turn to the Iowa lineman, which certainly isn’t a bad bet.
Cardinals:
Derrick Brown, DT Auburn
Offensive tackle would be an obvious choice for the Cardinals it seems. However, Derrick Brown is too good to pass up here and he would help that defense compliment that offense to help build a solid all-around team.
Jaguars:
Jordan Love, QB Utah State
The Jaguars wind up with Love after all. They get their new franchise QB and it makes it four QBs in the top 10.
Dolphins (trade with Browns):
Jedrick Wills, OT Alabama
Dolphins move up again, this time from number 18 in order to take the lineman that has plenty of experience protecting Tua’s blindside, which is important as it’s harder to do that with lefty QBs where RT is more important than LT. This is an important continuity move in the current times. Dolphins really show the strength of extra draft capital to move up twice and still having three 1sts.
Jets:
CeeDee Lamb, WR Oklahoma
The Jets could go OL or DL here but they choose to get a playmaker for Darnold after Anderson departed.
Raiders:
Jerry Jeudy, WR Alabama
The Raiders badly need a WR. Their top option is currently Tyrell Williams. They already have a good RB, a good TE and dare I say a good QB. If they can add Jeudy into the mix, they look way better.
49ers:
Mekhi Becton, OT Louisville
Everyone is expecting WR here but with the top 2 off the board, they go with an OT in order to prepare for life after Staley, which could be in the 2020 season and likely will be for sure in 2021 if not. They could trade down here, but with Becton on the board then some separation at that position after, they gladly take Becton and settle for WR later.
Buccaneers:
CJ Henderson, CB Florida
The Buccaneers desperately need CB help. It’s the most obvious flaw on the roster. They address it.
Broncos:
Henry Ruggs, WR Alabama
Henry Ruggs and Courtland Sutton stretching the field with Noah Fant underneath and the running game of Lindsay and Gordon sounds like great news for Drew Lock.
Falcons:
Kristian Fulton, CB LSU
Falcons get an adequate replacement for Desmond Trufant.
Cowboys:
Javon Kinlaw, DT South Carolina
The fact that Kinlaw is still on the board here is slightly surprising. The Cowboys scoop him up with little hesitation.
Browns (trade with Dolphins):
Andrew Thomas, OT Georgia
The Browns wanted a OT at 10 but wind up getting one after trading down to pick 18 anyways.
Raiders:
AJ Epenesa, EDGE Iowa
Just like last year, the Raiders spend one first rounder on a skill player and the other on defense. Jon Gruden strategically bulking up both sides of the ball and not putting all of his eggs in one basket.
Jaguars:
Justin Jefferson, WR LSU
Justin Jefferson would be the perfect underneath compliment to deep threat DJ Chark. With a new QB in tow, the Jaguars add a weapon to help him out.
Eagles:
Denzel Mims, WR Baylor
The Eagles desperately need a WR and decide to take a good one right here in Denzel Mims, who is rising.
Vikings:
Ross Blacklock, DT TCU
WR or CB could be the move here for the Vikings, but they spend their first of two 1sts on a DT that can keep that line stout. Blacklock has been rising on draft boards, so don’t be shocked to see him go in round 1. Vikings elect to take a WR later in this deep class, as I personally am looking at Jalen Reagor as a great fit for them later on.
Patriots:
Kenneth Murray, LB Oklahoma
Patriots could take a WR here but don’t want another N’Keal Harry situation. Nobody is looking to trade up to this spot for anything so they go get a linebacker. That’ll do for that defense.
Saints:
K’Lavon Chaisson, EDGE LSU
Saints add a LSU prospect to bolster that defense even further. Beefing up on the Saints line.
Vikings:
Jaylon Johnson, CB Utah
The Vikings fill a huge need with their other 1st round pick when they go get a CB. They lost a ton at the position and will fill a bit of that here.
Dolphins:
Xavier McKinney, S Alabama
Dolphins traded Minkah Fitzpatrick to Pittsburgh this past season. They now draft a guy they hope can make that impact at the position in McKinney, who like Fitzpatrick, is a safety from Alabama. Funny how things work. Also, all three Dolphins first rounders from Alabama.
Seahawks:
Joshua Jones, OT Houston
The Seahawks need offensive line help and they get it with a good one in Jones. More protection for Wilson who usually survives by running around and making things happen, not because he wants to but because he’s had to.
Ravens:
Yetur Gross-Matos, EDGE PSU
The Ravens don’t have many needs. Adding another pass-rusher makes that defense just as lethal as that offense.
Titans:
AJ Terrell, CB Clemson
The Titans go CB which is a spot on that defense where they could use help. Terrell provides it.
Packers:
Patrick Queen, LB LSU
Packers are starved for a LB and they find a good one in this class.
49ers:
Laviska Shenault, WR Colorado
The 49ers take a chance on a big-bodied, talented receiver in Shenault. He falls due to circumstances of his core muscle injury and surgery. He should be fine though given the injury isn’t really ever devastating. Shenault had no help and was hurt at Colorado and was still productive. He’d be a great player in Shanahan’s system and when healthy. There will be talk about trading out of this pick, but given current circumstances, I think the 49ers are good staying where they are and taking two players in round 1 and being left out until round 5.
Chiefs:
Trevon Diggs, CB Alabama
Chiefs could trade this pick, but they have no need to. They can instead use to pick to strengthen the defense to compliment that offense. Scary thought.
